Mark and Julie Peucker’s Story
The quest for perfection is evident when a visitor enters the driveway of Mark and Julie Peucker’s property at Mt Schank, South Australia. From the uniform leafy trees lining it, to the treated pine timber rail fences, every detail is a considered one. Further up the driveway, the farmhouse, surrounded by beautiful, country-style gardens commands a view over the farm. The paddocks beyond the fences are the domain of their other passion – Simmental stud breeding cattle. “I enjoy doing a lot of work with soil improvement, improving soil fertility and improving growth rates in our cattle”, says Mark. Brad Nicholson's Story
For Brad Nicholson of Braidwood, NSW, the connection and affection for the land and livestock he farms runs deep. Brad and wife Nicole purchased the farm, a picturesque 260 acres, back in 2007. The history of the farm is fairly colourful, with the original land apparently being acquired with bushranger money back in the day. The local area and farm are both named Round Flat which stems from the round flat paddock central to the farm on which, the bushrangers camped in their quest for easy gold. Fast forward to today and Brad and Nicole run a farm management business that encompasses eight properties over 6,000 acres in total. Today’s gold is black - the 1200 purebred Angus breeders they enthusiastically run. Improving cow fertility is a significant focus for Brad. “I've always liked to be at the forefront of things, so when Marks-Min® became available I adopted it straight away. Pat Millear’s Story
To say farming is in Pat Millear’s blood is an understatement. He’s fifth generation on the large and sprawling property in Willaura, Victoria, which was settled by his forebears back in 1878. For Pat, there’s a lot to be proud about. These days large farms tend to be in the ownership of corporates, and the fact the Millears have kept their holdings in family hands means a lot. Since the beginning, the Millears have been at the forefront of merino breeding in Victoria, and Pat is keenly carrying on this legacy on-farm and in his role as President of the Southern Victoria Merino Breeders Group. Pat currently runs 12,000 merino breeding ewes with 2,000 of those being stud ewes. The focus is on breeding a large animal that delivers a heavy carcass and wool cut potential. Pat is always looking to push the boundaries and leans on the latest tools to help him achieve his goals. Lifting conception rates is a fundamental driver of his success. “We've used Marks-Min® in our ram lambs and ewe lambs on our stud animals.
